Hofstra University Library appreciates the generosity of those who wish to support our collections. We are unable to accept most donations of print books for our general collections due to space and processing costs.

Very limited exceptions may be made when materials directly support the library’s print collection development goals, as determined by the professional judgment of our library faculty. If you believe your materials may be of particular relevance to Hofstra University’s academic mission, please contact the appropriate subject liaison librarian in advance with an inventory of volumes to be offered, including the title, author, and date for each book.

Please call ahead to speak with a subject specialist before bringing materials to campus. Unsolicited materials may be turned away or discarded at the Library’s discretion.

We suggest donating your unwanted materials to Better World Books, which accepts a wide range of items and supports global literacy initiatives.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of the Hofstra University community.
