The Writing Center, located in 102 Mason Hall, offers tutorials and consultations to writers throughout the Hofstra community. In addition, the Center sponsors lectures and workshops of interest to faculty throughout the disciplines, consults on matters related to writing with departments across the curriculum, and administers the Writing Proficiency Exam, which is a Hofstra graduation requirement. The Center is advised by an interdisciplinary board of faculty members.  The extension for the Center is 3-4908.  Tutors from the Center meet students in Axinn Library in the seating area across from the Circulation Desk, behind the New Books shelf.  The tutor will be seated with a sign saying, "Yes, I'm a tutor from The Writing Center!," beside him/her.  The Center maintains daytime and evening hours. Appointments are made via the Schedule link on this web page. http://www.hofstra.edu/Libraries/Axinn/axinn_wc_referral_form.cfm . (as of July, 2012)
