If you are a member of the Hofstra academic community (you have a Hofstra network ID and password), you can interlibrary loan the item from another institution (item will be delivered to Hofstra for pickup or delivered electronically.  Go to the Library homepage  > Popular Services  > Interlibrary Loan.  Log in to the system using your Hofstra network account.  Once you fill out the form, your account will be set up.

If you need an article which another library has in print, most libraries allow the public to enter and copy materials.  If you need a book which Hofstra does not have available but another library in Nassau/Suffolk has available for circulation, you can acquire a LILRC Research Loan Program (RLP) card from the Axinn Library Circulation Desk.  This card, good for 30 days, will enable you to borrow the book from the other library.  You should first check the other library's catalog to see if the book is available.
